Grey Goldenrod (Soldidago nemoralis)

 

A short (2' or less) and lovely goldenrod with brilliant yellow flowers, usually on a leaning/nodding cluster, that burst from the stems like fireworks. Clump-forming with upright, grey-downy stems clad with alterate, narrowly lanceolate, grey-green leaves.

    Attractive to birds, bees, and butterflies, Grey Goldenrod provides a bold splash of colour in the late-season garden. Easy to grow, low care, and trouble free, this goldenrod species is less agressive than the tall goldenrods. It is a good choice for a wildflower meadow, rock gardens, wild gardens, or the cottage garden. Great as a cut flower.

    Up to 18-24' tall & wide. Will spread by creeping rhizomes and self-seeding; 

    Best in full sun or light shade, average to dry well-drained soils. Tolerates poor soils. Drought tolerant once estabilished.
