Virgin's Bower (Clematis virginiana)

Virgin's Bower is a great vine for problem areas, especially dry, partially shaded sites, because it is agressive and fast-growing. It can cover a huge area in one season and will self-sow throughout the garden. It will also set down roots wherever the vine touches the ground. This vine attaches itself with twisted stems (rather than tendrils) so it will need a supportive structure.

Height: n/a

Bloom period: summer to fall

Exposure: full sun to partial shade

Moisture: moist to dry

Native Habitat: woodland edges and thickets

Wildlife: blooms will attract bees and butterflies; foliage will attract birds who will build their nests using the seed heads as their building material; deer resistant

  • PRODUCT INFO
